بیماری ایدز از مخرب‌ترین بیماری‌هایی است که انسان با آن مواجه شده است. طبق آمارها در تعداد زیادی از کشورها شمار مبتلایان جوان آلوده به ویروس نقص ایمنی اکتسابی(‌‌HIV) بیشتر از دیگر گروه‌های سنی است. ویروس نقص اکتسابی سیستم ایمنی انسان نوع خاصی از گلبول‌های سفید خون (لنفوسیت های ‌‌T کمک‌کننده) را که در سیستم دفاعی بدن نقش مهمی دارند مورد حمله قرار می‌دهد. افراد مبتلا در معرض بیماری‌های مختلف ویروسی، باکتریایی انگلی تعدادی از سرطان‌ها و بیماری‌های عفونی قرار دارند. بنابراین علایم بالینی ‌‌HIV متنوع است. عفونت ‌‌HIV در سیر طبیعی خود چهار مرحله را طی می‌کند: 1- مرحله حاد 2- مرحله بدون علامت 3 - مرحله قبل از ایدز 4- مرحله انتهایی یا ایدز. (ممکن است تمام این مراحل در بیماران دیده نشود.) ‌ ‌ همه‌گیری ایدز در سطح جهان دکتر حسن آزاده متخصص زنان و زایمان، استادیار سابق دانشگاه علوم پزشکی شهید بهشتی و عضو سابق سازمان بهداشت جهانی(‌‌WHO) می‌گوید: "طبق آخرین آمار گزارش شده سازمان جهانی بهداشت(‌‌UNAIDS) در کنفرانس سال 2004گزارش شده تا اواخر سال2003 سی و شش تا چهل میلیون از افراد بالغ و 2/ 1میلی...
